Photo taken in Florida in March, but the same conditions apply this week, except it has been sunnier.
Apologies to Anne Lamott for cribbing her title. (Actually, I loved the title of her book when I first heard it because we attended a church at the time where prayer requests were often made for "traveling mercies", so Anne doesn't have a corner on that term!)
We are in Florida this week. Terry has a conference and we came a couple of days early to enjoy ourselves before the work part started. Aside from our difficult travel down here (too boring to retell, if you've seen the news about storms and flooding in Tennessee and I tell you our connecting flight was in Memphis, you know all you need to know) we've had two days of total relaxation and pampering. We're at a fairly secluded resort on Amelia Island, on the Atlantic Coast. We've had room service (a first for us, but the restaurants at the resort are scattered about and require a shuttle ride and we were in FULL RELAX mode!), laid by the pool two afternoons, walked on the beach yesterday morning. Ahhhh.
I'm thankful to my blog friends who convinced me a couple of years ago to sieze every opportunity to travel with my husband. I'm a homebody and have to be lured away from my comfort zone. I'm glad you all encouraged me to do it. We've had some wonderful trips the past couple of years: Lake Tahoe, Colorado, Florida (this is the fourth Florida trip in three years!).
Thursday we will fly to New York where Luke will graduate from college on Saturday. What a blessing that will be. My heart can barely contain all the wonderful, joyous, good and perfect gifts the Lord has given me. I'm not worthy.
OK, time to quit talking and get working on the college assignments I brought with me. See, it's the end of another semester and I have three courses to complete in the next two weeks. It's also the end of another school year and the substitute teaching opportunities are at their peak. I need to use my time here, while Terry is at his conference, wisely. It's not so bad typing essays while watching and hearing the surf outside the window. It's supposed to rain today and tomorrow anyway.
Blessings,
Sandy
