HAPPY BIRTHDAY

to my beautiful, loving, witty, intelligent, sweet, funny, goofy, sun-loving daughter Cassandra. Twenty years ago she was born kicking and screaming. She didn't stop for two hours. Thankfully, that was the biggest fit she ever threw. Her personality from the beginning was serene, calm, laid-back, and composed. Her self-composure astonished me from the day we brought her home from the hospital. Cassie's crib was in a small bedroom just off our bedroom and she would wake early in the morning and never, NEVER cried for me. I awakened to hear her gurgling and singing to herself and playing with her crib toys. When I went to get her, she beamed.
I am so blessed to be the mother of this amazing young woman.
Happy Birthday, dear Cassie.
Speaking of the blog fast: The first Sunday of Lent we were visiting friends in Michigan (the friends who jump-started our interest in Catholicism!) and went to mass with them. The priest explained how Sundays are not included in the 40 days of Lent because Sundays are NEVER fast days. He said some Catholics indulge in their sacrificed Lent items on Sundays during Lent. Others do not. It's a personal decision. I decided to read blogs on Sundays, but not to comment or post on my own blog. I'm enjoying the fast. Reading blogs on Sunday only is a special treat. I don't get through all the blogs on my feed reader and the prioritization is good discipline.
See you all after Easter. I'm not sure the plans were finalized before Ash Wednesday, but I'm going to New York for Easter weekend! Luke will be confirmed in the Catholic Church on Easter Vigil Saturday and I'm so glad to be there for that sacred moment.
Blessings,
Sandy
