I don't want to go on at length about this subject cause it's boring, it's sad, and I'm not alone in facing it. Many of the bloggers I read regularly are dealing with this or have dealt with it in the past year. It's a season of life, albeit a very difficult one.
My dad must go into a nursing home. I will be in St. Louis next week to help find a suitable home, make the necessary financial arrangements, and break the news to Dad. He was prepared for a temporary stay while my stepmom recovers from shoulder replacement surgery, but he does not realize the plan has changed and he will be living there permanently.
Sigh.
I'm not surprised this difficult week coincides with Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. I've been preparing for a season of penitence and deeper spiritual reflection and this development certainly fits that plan.
I would certainly appreciate your prayers for my Dad, my stepmom, my siblings and step-sibling during this stressful time. During the leading-up to this, I learned new appreciation for my siblings. I told Terry last night we are not an especially close family, but we NEVER fight. NEVER. We are a "no-drama" family, thanks in large part to the wonderful example of our Mother.
Lord have mercy.

((Sandy)) I will be praying for you and lifting up your Dad this week, especially.
Sandy,
I'm praying for you and your Dad and everyone in your family. I've been exactly where you are and I know how difficult it is.
I'll also be praying that your Lenten fast is honoring to God and a blessing to you. You'll be missed here!
Amy
