50!

Today is my 50th birthday. I keep thinking if I say it enough times it will be more real. I've been thinking of myself as 50 for awhile now, getting used to the idea. So why does the actual milestone seem so surreal?

Saturday night, my darling husband threw me a surprise birthday party. Well, it was almost a surprise. I innocently intercepted a text message on Terry's phone last week with the first few words "we'll see you at the party". I didn't read more, but knew something was up. We had five couples, some we've known for over 20 years, all we've known for over five years, for appetizers, soup, sandwiches, and German chocolate cake (from the best bakery in town!). I was blessed.

50?? I remember my parents being 50. I remember when Terry turned 50. Most of the people at the party Saturday were over 50. Many of my blog and Facebooks friends are over 50. My brothers are both over 50; the oldest will turn 60 in December.

In fact, at my party the other night, 9 of the 12 people in attendance were older than me. It makes it hard to whine too much about birthdays.

God is so good to me.

Birthday blessings,

Sandy
