Spring ramblings on faith, family and baseball

Last Thursday was a nearly perfect spring day. The lawn mower, which I put away late last season without draining the gasoline or taking out the battery for the winter, started right up. I mowed the lawn while listening to the Cardinals on the radio. Chris Carpenter, Cardinals ace who was on the DL almost all of the 2008 season, pitched a near no-hitter while I mowed. Every minute of the game thrilled me.

Pope Benedict delivered a wonderful Last Supper message, carried live on EWTN earlier in the day. My thoughts were focused on the triduum and Holy Week.

I mowed quickly so I could meet Terry in town for dinner while we awaited Cassie's arrival for the long weekend.

Redbuds line the highway on my drive to town. Green grass, green trees, forsythia, dogwoods and apple trees herald the arrival of SPRING. As I texted to Luke: it's BASEBALL season and all is well.
